Environment
Central Oregon is a natural wonderland. Central Electric cares about the health and beauty of our environment, which is why we engage in a variety of programs to reduce emissions, improve the land and promote environmental stewardship at all levels of our operations.

Protection of Rare Birds
CEC has attached ornithologist-designed bird habitat structures to our power poles, specifically to benefit the Kestrel, a type of northwest falcon.
NWEA Environmental Award
Northwest Environmental Advocates (NWEA) of Portland presented its first Renewable Energy Enterprise award to Central Electric in 1999
The award cited CEC for "being an industry model for its on-going marketing efforts to promote its renewable "Green Power" energy program. NWEA said "The aggressive action CEC has taken has made it perhaps the most successful program in the country with well over three percent of its members signed up in one year's time."
Green Power
CEC is part owner of a clean, non-polluting electricity-generating plant in the Willamette Valley that creates nearly 5.66 megawatts of power by burning methane gas from a nearby landfill. This environmentally friendly source of energy is available to Central Electric's members to help meet their energy needs. More information on Green Power.
Waste Minimization and Recycling
CEC has a recycling program which greatly reduces our garbage volume.
